If a Minister of Holy Communion has a special gift to bring to the world, perhaps it is that awareness of the presence of Christ.
It is the gift of bringing Christ’s presence to each one we meet, and of seeing Christ present in each person.
It is obvious that we bring the presence of Christ to those who come forward to receive Communion. At that time, as we distribute the Body and Blood of Christ (which is the whole person of Christ), to those in our faith community, we truly are bringing Christ’s presence to them.

Adult Confirmation
Deacon Bob and Patty Miller 310.386.2930
The Adult Confirmation Preparation Program is for parishioners who are over 18 years of age and who have been baptized and received First Communion, but who have yet to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
If you are interested in Confirmation Preparation, it would be helpful to take the following steps as soon as possible:
- Register with St. James, if you haven’t yet.
- Have a copy of your baptismal certificate sent from the church where you were baptized to Deacon Bob Miller at St. James.
- Meet with Deacon Bob and Patty Miller or email.
High School Confirmation
At St. James we are committed to providing a life altering experience that will unleash the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the life of every teen.
Candidates will be invited to engage in small group discussions that challenge all them to reach a new spiritual depth and share in the rich tradition of the Catholic Church while participating in prayer, service and community.
It’s fun, it’s transformative and it spirit filled.

It’s one thing to think God is on our side when we are making the right choices, we’re resisting temptations and we’re doing good. We believe God is rooting for us.
What happens when you miss the mark?
Discover how God still has an “after this” in your future even if you’re gone through a divorce. He still has a great plan for your life. He wants to encourage you and remind you that your life is not over just because you went through a divorce. God still do amazing things for you so you can help build His kingdom on earth.

Prayer Group
Dean Campazzie
310.372.5182
We meet every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m., usually in the Kavanagh Hall located next to the church but sometimes in room 6 of the parish center.
Our purpose is to pray. We start the meeting with individual prayer petitions offered and then pray the Rosary.
This is followed by the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Consecration Prayers. There is a short Bible passage reading and a few announcements.
Often we have refreshments. Membership is for anyone interested in prayer and members come as often as they wish. Most meetings end by 8:10.

Vocation Awareness
Fr. Mike Perucho 213.637.7755
Why is it important that we say “Yes” when we hear God calling us to a particular vocation?
When we believe in God, we want to do God’s will. To listen to what God wants and answer him is essential for our own fulfillment. It is essential to our happiness on earth and in getting us to Heaven. The decision we make to answer God’s call, wherever that call may take us, will make all the difference in life. More>
