Shining Stars in Christ Honoree: Patrick and Delia Cunningham
St. James Catholic Church has been the chosen place of worship over the past 32 years for Patrick & Delia Cunningham, where they devote their service to ministry and the St. James Community. Delia, one of eight siblings, was born in Fresno, CA to parents Paul and Maria Pacheco, who immigrated from Mexico.
During her elementary and high school years, Delia attended CCD catechism classes and graduated from Fresno High School at age 17. She moved to Los Angeles to attend college. She graduated from the Radiology Technology Program at El Camino College and worked as a Special Procedures/Cath Lab Technologist from 1985 to 2014. She also worked part time as a Radiology Clinical Instructor at El Camino College. In 2015, she launched her dream floral business titled Delia’s Cariño, when translated means “to give endearing love” which she still dabbles in today.
Patrick, one of 3 siblings, was born in Santa Monica, CA to parents Sean and Maureen Cunningham, who immigrated from Ireland. At age 2, his family moved to Westchester, CA where he attended St. Jerome’s Elementary Catholic School and St. Bernard Catholic High School. He studied Architecture at Woodbury University, became a licensed Architect, partnered with his brother Michael, and together they own and operate C&C Partners Design Build Firm for the past 37 years.
Patrick & Delia met on a blind date in 1989, married in 1992 and had two beautiful daughters, Brieanna and Nikala. Both girls attended St. James School, Bishop Montgomery High School, and are active in their own St. James ministries.
Delia serves as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of Feed the Needy Ministry, the Women’s Guild Ministry, and she was involved in the creation of the Big Red Opportunity Drawing for St. James school.
Patrick serves as a Lector and was a past member of the Pastoral Council and Men’s Cornerstone. He also served as a member of the Campaign Executive Committee for the recently acquired church property.
They enjoy spending time with family, friends, gatherings, traveling, snow skiing, life, and practicing their faith!
